Our Story

Disability Doesn't Create Heroes. It Reveals Them.

ABLE helps people with locomotor disabilities by providing mobility solutions and rehabilitation, enabling them to live up to their true potential as superheroes.

We Make Real-Life Superheroes.

ABLE tackles these challenges through life-changing Prosthetic and orthotic services, empowering individuals to claim their independence. We seek out heroes through camps in underserved communities, ensuring a hero’s journey isn’t stopped by their zip code or bank account.

We don’t just provide devices, we restore freedom and unveil superheroes.

Breaking Barriers, Rehabilitating Hope!

Superheroes aren't born in movies. Theyre made in communities like ours

Every superhero needs a league. At ABLE, our volunteers are the backbone of change. Whether you’re joining a mobility camp in Mysore, supporting device fittings, helping with outreach, or simply sharing stories of resilience. Your time turns struggles into strength.

With just a few hours a week, you can be part of the moment a mother watches her daughter walk for the first time, or a young professional commutes independently to work.

The world has enough spectators. We need allies.

What We Provide

Mobility Support

We provide comprehensive mobility solutions, from prosthetic limbs to orthotic aids. Designed to help individuals move through the world on their own terms.

Education & Paramedical Training

We believe in building from within. ABLE supports young women - including women with disabilities - in pursuing education in Prosthetics and Orthotics. So far, 36 students have completed paramedical training through our support. They don't just learn a skill. They become the next generation of people who build superheroes.

Accessible & Affordable Prosthetics

High-quality assistive devices shouldn't be a luxury. Unlike generic providers, ABLE's devices are tailored for life, not just for now. With modular designs, patients replace only what's worn, not the entire device. We make sure no hero is turned away because of cost.

From a Workshop to a Movement

ABLE began as RAWWD – the Rehabilitation Aids Workshop by Women with Disability.  Founded in Bangalore in 1997 with a radical idea: that women with disabilities could be the ones building the tools that transform lives.

For 27 years, we’ve equipped heroes through employment for women and life-changing custom devices, unlocking potential and independence at our Prosthetic and Orthotics Centre. Our legacy has empowered over 47,000 heroes and employed over 30 women with disabilities, transforming them from aid recipients into architects of change.
